Joint road collision exercise held in Wexford

A joint multi-agency road traffic collision exercise was held on the Rose Kennedy Bridge in New Ross, Co. Wexford today.

The exercise was undertaken to learn how to test and improve service responses to these type of incidents.

Simulating response times and best practices when dealing with serious Road Traffic Collisions on the bridge, each service had to identify and overcome issues which may arise while operating within the confines of the bridge.

The operation was led by Principal Response Agencies of An Garda Síochàna and Wexford County Council, along with the National Ambulance Service, Wexford Fire Service and Kilkenny Fire Service.

Further involvement included Wexford Civil Defence, the councils Road Safety Department and its Health & Safety Reps in addition to BAM Construction Road Operators.

The objective of today’s exercise was to carry out a multi agency emergency exercise to learn how to improve emergency alert, mobilisation and responses to these type of situations.
