Joint marine search and rescue exercise concludes in Donegal

This morning’s joint exercise between An Garda Síochána and the Irish Coast Guard has closed.

The onshore and offshore training exercise took place in the vicinity of Machaire Gathlán Pier, Bunbeg, Co. Donegal from 8am. Crews from the RNLI and Irish Underwater Council Search and Recovery Divers also took part.

The aim of the exercise is to review search, rescue, recovery operational capacity and to enhance communications between the various marine search and rescue services such as Marine Rescue Centre in Malin Head, Irish Coast Guards Teams, Irish Underwater Council Search & Recovery Divers, the R.N.L.I. and An Garda Síochána.
