Firefighter hospitalised following Carlow fire

A firefighter from County Carlow received an injury at the scene of a fire in Carlow town this afternoon.

His injuries are not serious, however he was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny as a precaution.

Four Units of Carlow County Fire Service were alerted to a fire at the rear of a house on the Green road at around 2.30pm. The fire quickly spread to another property behind the house which is located on the Blackbog road, at the rear of the property.

Two units from Carlow Town and two from Bagenalstown stations attended the incident. The National Ambulance Service and local gardaí also attended.

Carlow Fire Service believe the fire may have started accidentally.

Meanwhile, a fire crew from Tullow station were also called into Carlow town this afternoon to tackle an outdoor fire alongside the River Burren between to Beech road and Burrin Manor at Millstream. The incident happened shortly before 3pm today.
